Crystal- Upgrading depends on what the model of the pump is and how long you have had it. Pumps are warranteed for 4 years. Medtronic will replace a pump for 48 months after that the wearer will need to get a new one. Some patients will need to upgrade earlier only if a new pump would be medically necessary. You can call Medtronic at 1800minimed if you have more questions about upgrading and/or pump replacement.

My son is using Medtronic MiniMed pump. He is doing great so far. He's had it for three years now and one of his Doctors said that we need to upgrade. Is there something wrong with the pump or is it a "life" of the pump issue? If anyone can help me with this I would appreciate it greatly.

Not sure when the x23 will be out. There is so much that Medtronic is working on. The timing of the markets will be key as well. We'll have to wait until ADA and see. Metdronic will demo the latest stuff at the ADA.

Allow insulin to sit out for a few minutes. Room temp is ideal. I would check your infusion sets. Make sure they lock into place. You can also call the Medtronic pump nurse Tandy at 738-2438.
