- I was diagnose December 17th, 1989 with type 1 diabetes at the age of 5 1/2. I can't remember life before diabetes. My daughter, who is almost 2, was diagnosed January 27th, 2009 with type 1 diabetes. My husband was diagnose when he was 3 with type 1 diabetes so it's nothing new for me!
