Hi Jackie, I would love to help in any way I can. Feel free to give my name and email to whom ever may need it. Let me know how I can help, I am a stay at home mom so I have lots of free time while the kids are at school. Thanks alot

Hello Jackie and all the founders.
Thank you for the warm welcome! I took your advice and posted the two blog entries I had on my blog when my little girl was diagnosed and a couple of weeks following. I hope to find time soon to blog again on our life 5 weeks after diagnosis. I feel a real calling with this disease. The need is more awareness in the public on what type 1 REALLY is. I am frustrated at the pretty, soft magazine ads for monitors and television ads showing how easy life is with their product! No wonder the general public doesn't take this disease seriously. There have been countless movies about people suffering with cancer, MS and many other diseases that show the reality of pain and suffering that come with the disease, but nothing has been done to show the world the madness that comes with the constant calculating, monitoring, measuring, finger pricking, injecting and absolute life saving measures that happen around the clock each and every day with Type 1 diabetes! I want to get this world educated on the depth of this disease! There would be more financial contributions if people saw the reality of how we live. I'm on a quest now, to rid the ignorance the media has caused and open the eyes of everyone who thinks diabetes is "No problem" and "manageable". Yes, it's manageable, but it is the managing that encompasses your life. Without constant, persistant managing, the diabetic dies - simple as that. To me, the mother and care taker, I don't find this to be "No problem" (as someone casually put it), I want the public to understand this disease so more people will be willing to help find the cure to our daily shots that literally keep her alive!
Thanks for your concern. I was quite down this time and had to rest for a while, because my blood pressure was high and this got me worried. I thank God that i am better now though and recovering. I have fast started putting things in place to start work on the project. I just wanted to ask a few questions such as what Basal means i see a lot of people talking about their basal on line. Also wish to find out how the CGM works. We dont have such technology for diabetics here in Nigeria but these are some of the things i hope to change in the nearest future. Thanks and hope to get a reply from you soon. I hope to start my blog very soon too.
No problem. I'm a native of LV and plan on being here for awhile. When I joined Medtronic I told myself that I would get involved in the diabetic community not just to promote Medtronic but to really help.
Jackie, The camp you are talking about is in our plan though I am not sure when. I truely understand what you are saying. We really want to work with 19-25 year olds also. Our first goal is to make this camp right for kids and then if funding is coming in move forward. Thanks for everything you do and good luck!
Hi Jackie, i haven't been active here for a while now. I was very ill and was down for about three weeks. I had resistant malaria, and my sugar was all over the place and very high. I am a bit better now and have started work on the DA chapter here in Nigeria. Will keep in touch.
