Diabetic Angels

So, a little more about me… I was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at the age of 5 ½ the date was December 17th, 1989. I can NOT remember a life without diabetes being a part of it. My daughter, Mackenzie, who is 20 months old was diagnosed on January 27th, 2009, she was 16 months old. My husband, Josh, was 3 when he was diagnosed, I just recently found out the date he was diagnosed was April 14th, 1984, and he is coming up on his 25th anniversary. My father was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes about a year ago and he seems to be in denial. I have 2 aunts who are type 1 diabetics, one on my mom’s side and one on my dad’s side. I have one uncle who is a type 2 diabetic on my fathers side. I have a nephew who is only 6 and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 4 years old. My grandfather on my mother’s side, who is no longer alive, died, March 7th, 2009, from complications of type 1 diabetes, he is the prime example as to why I take good care of mine. He was only 68 when he passed away. I have a cousin who is newly diagnosed and she is having a very hard to dealing with the whole concept. I have tried to help her but she doesn’t seem to want the help. I have four friends, Ansley, LeeAnn, Jacob, Jeanette, who are all type 1 diabetics and on insulin pumps. I have one co-worker, Susan, who is type 1 and she seems to be the only one up at work that seems to understand what is going on, such as; tonight. I had a terrible hypo and was trying to get it up and I was having a hard time, nothing seemed to work. I did finally get it up to 71 so I felt a whole lot better then. I have a classmate, Ansley, who is a type 1 diabetic and she is one of my closest friends, who understands. There is just a different connection between a friend who is also diabetic and a friend who is not. But I think that I covered all the ways that I am connected to someone with diabetes. I’ll have a little more on my life and living with type 1 diabetes later. I’m really tired and going to go and crawl in bed.
